The Volcano

The seniors continued their volcano dance today in the Music Zone. Room 5 picked three non locomotor moves inspired by the Coke & Mentos Volcano experiment. They shared individually in three groups. LS2 picked moves that reflected the 3 stages of the Volcano. The building up, the eruption and the dying down. They created a dance sequence then worked with a partner in a Duet. The year 7's shared their duets in their pair and the year 8's shared three pairs at a time. Can you see the three stages in each dance?

Catch a Bubble

In dance this week the juniors are learning a song called "Catch a Bubble". We had fun catching and popping bubbles then we used our imaginations and moved like we were a bubble.

Crystal Breeze

This week we began dance. The juniors moved creatively to a piece of music called "Crystal Breeze". The two instruments in this piece were the flute and cello. If you had a pink or purple scarf you moved when the flute music was on and if you had a green or yellow scarf you moved to the cello music.

The Volcano

Today LS1 listened to a poem about a Volcano and created dance sequences. The year 5's created their own sequence then combined it with a partners. The year 6's created an individual sequence and shared in 3 groups. Have a look and see the similarities and the differences between the two classes.

Domino Rhythms

This week the Seniors are creating their own musical score. Each group had a bag of dominoes. First they needed to choose two characters, one to be the beat and one to be the rhythm. They then used body percussion to play their piece. Next week they will choose two more rhythms and make a melody to play on either the recorder or ukulele.
