Tai Chi

For the seniors are dance is motivated by a piece of music called "Yin Yang" from China. Today we learnt some Tai Chi movements and then created a partner dance. Have a look at what the year 5's created. They looked awesome!

Satu Dua

The Juniors learnt a dance from Indonesia called "Satu Dua". It's a fun dance where different people get to be the leader and create a dance move for everyone to copy. We also learnt two songs which have some actions "Kaeru no Uta" a song about a frog from Japan and "Little Silver Moon" from China.

Music Learning at Home

Even though we began Dance this week a few students are working hard at home. They are borrowing recorders and ukuleles to take home and practise. Congratulations to Jasmine who graded with her red belt in Recorder Karate and to Jeremiah who achieved his orange badge in Ukulele Gymnastics.

A huge congratulations to the belts achieved last week.

Hello Hello

Over the last few weeks the Juniors have learnt a greeting song and dance called "Hello Hello". We have changed the greetings to a variety of greetings from countries in Asia. We have learnt to count in Japanese, Filipino and Hindi.

Congratulations to our Red Badge and Dark Blue Badge achievers.

Musicat

The juniors have been playing a game called "Musicat".

Alison's camel

Last week rooms 1 & 2 began learning a new song. They learnt the words and the rhythm. They added untuned percussion instruments to the different parts of the song. This week they will learn to sing and play the melody on tuned percussion instruments.

Rhythms

The Juniors have been learning to read, say and clap 4 beat rhythms. Last week they worked with a partner to create their own four beat rhythms which they shared with the class.
