"Flocking"

LS1 are continuing their dance lessons using "Flight" as their inspiration. Already LS1 have talked lots about flight and shared lots of awesome describing words. They then explored these words through flocking in groups just like birds do and they also explored group shapes for the different types of bird's wings. After the exploration they worked in groups to create a class dance showing flocking and the wing shapes.

Paint yourself in Woad

If you looked at the year 6's dances to "Paint yourself in Woad" you would also like to check out the year 8's dances. The year 8's also learnt some basic Irish dance steps and created a sequence to go after their Blended cultural dance. The cultures are as follows: Juanita's group - Indian, Maori and Argentinian; Sajiha's group - Indian; Afu's group - Brazilian and African; Reon's Group - Maori and English; Ana's group - Indian and Scottish; Manu's group - Tongan, Samoan, Cook Island and Maori. My apologies to Manu's group as I missed part of your dance when my camera ran out of memory.

Crocodile Country

The Seniors have taken a trip to Australia. They had a variety of stimuli to help inspire their dances today. First we watched some Australian Aboriginal dances showing the Kangaroo Dance, Emu Dance, Crocodile Dance and then the Snake Dance. They also had an Australian Aboriginal painting and some movement words. They roughly had a minute of music to do their dance to. Check out the result. Can you tell what animal each group is?
