Olympics!
This term all classes have taken part in learning songs and dances from around the room in honour of the Olympic Games. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. Next term we continue dance with creative dance around the idea of "Flight" and Music starts back in week 4!
Paint yourself in Woad
If you looked at the year 6's dances to "Paint yourself in Woad" you would also like to check out the year 8's dances. The year 8's also learnt some basic Irish dance steps and created a sequence to go after their Blended cultural dance. The cultures are as follows: Juanita's group - Indian, Maori and Argentinian; Sajiha's group - Indian; Afu's group - Brazilian and African; Reon's Group - Maori and English; Ana's group - Indian and Scottish; Manu's group - Tongan, Samoan, Cook Island and Maori. My apologies to Manu's group as I missed part of your dance when my camera ran out of memory.

Mexican Hat Dance
Room 4's have learnt lots of dances from around the world over the past three weeks. This is them doing their favourite dance - "The Mexican Hat dance".

Paint yourself in Woad
This week the Year 6s and Year 8s have travelled to Ireland. They learnt some basic Irish dance steps and created a sequence. They then decided on another culture and created a sequence of those.
When you watch the year 6s watch for their blended cultures. Brooklyn's Group - Maori; Angari's Group - Samoan/Tongan; Jeremiah's group - Spanish; Mataio's group - Indian/African/Maori/Australian Aboriginal; Jona Dana's group - Niuean and Tiava's group - Tongan/Samoan.

Mairi's Wedding
This week Room 5, the Year 5s and Year 7s have travelled to Scotland. They learnt a Scottish Country Dance called "Mairi's Wedding" and watched some video's of other dances. They then needed to work in groups to create their own Scottish Country Dance. This is the result.

Hey Dumba
Over the last few weeks the juniors have been learning a song from Brazil called "Hey Dumba". This is room 4 singing the song.

Jibidi
This week the Juniors have been travelling around Europe. They learnt "Jibidi" which is a traditional dance from France.

Cook Island Rhythms
This week LS2 took a journey to the Cook Islands. We watched some videos and each of the classes had an expert from the Cook Islands to help. What a great effort.
